My Alfred Hitchcock Atttempt

Ok, so now I'm learning how to film and edit movies.  This is my first attempt at making a "movie" HAHAHA.  I just picked a video out of some I had taken of my animals and thought I would play around and this is what I came up with.....Don't be to critical please.

I call this movie........"Spy Lilly" ode to Alfred (not really, its just in black and white with suspenseful music) and dedicated to my friend who loves movies (and made me watch movies I never even heard of)....Erin.  :)

Needing a Fox to Help

Today our pest control person came out and I told him about the possible skunk, he didn't see one at the time he was here, but suggested that we get fox urine and put it around the building.

OH MY!  Now where am I going to find a fox that will be willing to come leave his/her scent around my cottage????  Ok, so yeah, apparently you can purchase fox urine.  OMG, what don't they have and where do you buy this???? a urine store??? ok, so apparently you get it at a feed store, which also sounds weird.  Welcome to the country.

Living in Rualburbia.....No Vacancies

OKAY.....well, who said the country can't be fun!?  It is not unusual to be driving down the road here in the country and smell a skunk and whether it was a dead one on the road or one passing by, it is not a smell that you roll down your window for (unless you are trying to get fresh air in to get the skunk smell out).  If we smell the foul odor, we make the dogs and cats come in, afraid they will get "sprayed"  The smell is a lingering smell.... a unique smell, for any of you that have not had the pleasure.....Count yourselves LUCKY.

Well I hate to report, that we believe living under my cottage is a skunk!  My cottage sits above ground and therefore has a small crawl space, even though I have bricks stacked up around the bottom, it appears that a creature has decided it to be a nice home, every morning, I find a brick in the back knocked out away from building.  We have not found it yet, but can smell it's calling card.  My husband has now put out a live trap to catch this uninvited guest.  I guess it figures we have so many animals that love living here that it wants to too!  But I believe this establishment is at full capacity at this time.

Will keep you posted......

Am I Just Not a Good Host?

Here I am in the middle of the night and again can't sleep.....I remember stories my mom would tell me of how I loved to sleep and that she never had trouble getting me to take my naps, but had hard times waking me up.  And as much as I would love to sleep, occasionally I would as a child, not be able to fall asleep right away and I would come out of my room after which would feel like an eternity! (mom said it would be about 5 minutes) I would come out of my room and announce that "My Sleep Won't Come".  Now my sleep does come.....about 9 pm (when did I become my parents falling asleep on the couch in mid sentence? ). However, now "My Sleep Won't STAY", so I must be a bad Host.

I use to think that when I heard older people talk about how they would not be able to sleep and be awake through out the night, that they were doing something wrong.  How could you not stay asleep?.....I still don't know the answer, but now I'm living the question.  Oh, and the getting up in the middle of the night to go pee?  yeah, that too....I try now NOT to drink anything after dinner, but dang it all if I don't have meds to take!  When my husband gets up during the night to go the bathroom, I always ask "where are you going?"  to which he likes to come up with some doozies of a story....I told you he thinks he's a comedian.   Blast it all, no matter how much we try to fight it, we become our parents and all that comes with it....sleep or not!

A Growl is Sometimes More Than Just a Growl

I know for those of you who read Princess Maddie Jane's blog will have already heard this story, but that is from her warped point of view.....

When I start to wake up in the mornings, my husband will sometimes put my little black dog, Maddie, on the bed.  And when she gets on the bed and I'm laying on my back, she loves to get on top of my stomach and stare at me until I wake up.  Well, the other morning when this was the case, and she was laying there all still and starring at me, it was very quite and then....my stomach growled......OMG... she bolted into the air with this look of horror on her face and pretty much crawled across the air onto the floor (I'm not quite sure if she touch the bed even) and ran right out of the bedroom.  It took her sometime before she would come near me, but kept a close eye on me all morning!!

My Husband is a Comedian

He loves to take self portraits

I was reading my blog entry to my husband when I asked him, "You do follow my blog, right?  You need to become one of my followers."  to which he replied, "I don't need to follow your blog, because I live it EVERY DAY."  Oh he thinks he is SOOOOOO Hilarious I tell ya!

My Pick

My new "toy".

For those of you who don't know what this lovely little tool is, it is a Pick machine.  It clamps the stem of a flower with a metal pick for you to stick into the styrofoam.

The job I had while in high school was at a gift shop and we did floral arrangements etc.  That is where I learned the beauty of a pick machine.  I have wanted one since, but they were too expensive.  I was recently telling my mom that I would love to have one to make doing flower arrangements much quicker and easier.  Wouldn't you know it, about a month later I was doing my travels through the antique stores, when I spied two old pick machines. I snatched up and bought the one that was all metal and had all the parts.  I was so excited, it is now in my Cottage, where I do crafts etc and I am always Tickled Pink when getting to use it.  Like a little kid in a candy shop.

Recently at another travel day through the antique shops, I found this wire basket (I have a whole collection, but always in need of a different size and shape).  At the time I wasn't sure what I would do with it, but while at the counter purchasing, my friend said something about potted flowers and boom!!, I finally had something for my outside table top center piece!!!  Never know where inspiration will come from, in this case, my best friend of nearly 33 years!!!  Thanks GIRLFRIEND!

Preparing these in my Cottage was fun.

My Birthday Gift

As you may or may not know by reading my blog, we only have one bathroom in our tiny little living quarters (that will "someday" be a guest house, when we finally build the house).  I've been looking forward to a 2nd bathroom for years (going on nine yrs)!  And recently for my birthday my husband got me one......although it is not quite what I had in mind!  I'm going to put it out by my cottage, since those that stay in the cottage only have one complaint....no toilet.  So HA, here ya go!  LOL  Truthfully, I think it is cute and can't wait to place in my landscape.  When I get it placed and decorated, I will blog again about it with a picture.

It's Fun Being Gray

Video by:  Lola

Texas can have very hot days no doubt, and most people here have white vehicles and wear light colored clothes to keep cool.....so what is a black dog to do???  I'll tell ya....they roll in some light colored dirt and then they come in like nothing is wrong until you call them out on it.

Little Black Dog Can't Jump

I'm a Princess

I'm NOT a Turd
Photos by: Lola

"My" dog, is a little black Chihuahua Pomeranian mix.  She is my little princess, mostly because she acts that way.  She loves to be carried and have things her way.  My husband calls her (and by coincidence so does our Vet) "Little Black Turd".  I KNOW! RIGHT?! That's Mean!, but they think its funny.  Aw my poor little princess.  She has such a big personality.  What is really funny is how she argues with my husband.  When he is telling her something she does this funny little howling growl and back talks him.  My husband's dog, a Chihuahua Jack Russel mix is very short and squaty but has very powerful legs and can jump really high onto things,  He loves to get up on our bed and lay in the decorative pillows for which he gets in trouble.  Then we also have a big older dog,  who is a lab cow dog mix.  Anyways, we had been out for awhile and let the dogs stay in.  When we got home, my husband's dog and the older one quickly got off the bed.  I was not happy about the hair on the bed and I was telling him that my dog was the only good one who didn't get on the bed, to which my husband replied, "Cuz the little black dog can't jump".  Which is so funny but true, she may have longer legs then my husband's dog but they are so skinny that she really doesn't have much strength in them.   But we shouldn't make so much fun of her, she has FEELINGS....my precious princess.  Besides... she would say, "I don't need to jump, I'm carried where ever I want to go, because I'm a Princess."
