When you just don't have time to get to the lake to fish.....

Texas Style

No, not really....In taking out the pond, we had to take our Koi fish out of the pond and move them to a temporary "home" until we can build a new pond.  We hadn't cleaned the pond in awhile so it was hard to find the fish as the water was draining.  But take a look at my husband's attire..LOL.  He is wearing a t-shirt that says "Just Do It" and camouflage shorts, with a different camouflage  print rubber boots and drinking a beer.  He cracks me up.  Even one of our dogs enjoyed helping to locate the fish, while my husband scooped it up in a net, then my daughter would take it out of the net and put in a bucket.

"There it is daddy, get it!"

We would then carry the bucket to the "new" location and she would take them from the bucket and put into the trough.  17 Koi.  It was a long evening and a funny one.  The fish would freak out with the moving bucket and occasionally would jump out!   But we got them all transferred safely.

Nothing Like Good Help

We recently had some unexpected help show up on our property.

The three little ones are helping me pick out flagstone and placing them.
And then they would sit down right where they wanted me to place them.  So helpful, just like my teenager.

After all that hard work......it was break time.

BUT LATER:

The one we named Blue (because of her extremely clear light blue eyes) was helping with the lamb, Kevin.  She thought he needed to get some exercise and took him for a walk.

AND....he just would follow her.

This is Tipper (she is all black except for the very tips of her paws and the very very end of her tail).  She is always looking so cute, so it is hard to get onto her when she is doing something she is not suppose to.
This is Blue (named that because she has the bluest eyes).
She is so funny and quite the stinker.

This is TAZ, he is the sweetest thing ever!!!!

These three showed up trotting around our property late one afternoon and my daughter and I were so afraid of them being attacked by coyotes so we scooped them up, fed, watered and sheltered them for the night. And they haven't left, to which my husband says...."that's what happens when you feed them."

The three of them are so funny, when ever one gets a drink they all get a drink, when one goes after something all three go after it.  When I try to walk some where, all three are right there to try and trip me!  But they have won my heart and much as I have tried to be aloof they are just too precious.

All of our cats and dogs are mix breeds that were found or given to us and I love them all, but adding 3 more to the clan is quite a bit (we already have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, donkey, lamb and a bunch of Koi fish,  cows and calves, a bull and we also feed the deer (14) can you say "food bill is HIGH?").

But They are so cute.....see

Especially when they are asleep....

My youngest daughter wants to keep all three, but she has been good about trying find good homes for them.  "Frowney Face"  I will miss them terribly, but trying to enjoy them now and hopefully when they do find forever homes they will be as loved as they are here and will be as happy as they are now.

RED, WHITE and BLUE

I love this bedroom.  I took my time finding all of these fabrics and quilts to get my
Red, White and Blue
bedroom to go with the rest of the Carriage House that is also
Red, White and Blue.

The headboard was a creation of mine, but my poor husband was the one that had to turn it into reality.  I always come up with these ideas and I think it will go together so easily, and my husband just looks at me and shakes his head with a chuckle.  Because not only do I say it's "easy" but I'm also famous for saying, "it won't take but a second".

I found this old pitcher at an antique store and just had to have it, and it must have been meant for me, because I walked away from it originally, then went back a few weeks later and there it was!  Well actually it was in a different spot and I really thought I had lost out, but I found it and was delighted!  The bear is one of the many bears my husband gave me for an anniversary (I use to get one each year, but you can imagine he stopped many many years ago. LOL  The picture was one of our first pictures to buy together for our first house.  The coat rack, was a tree on our property we cut down, I stripped the bark and sanded it all down,  stained and sealed.....wala!  (LOL, of course my husband and to cut the roots off and attach me a base...."easy and just took a second")

The thing I like about the Cowgirl Glam is you wear boots and jeans with lots of sparkles!  It makes you be both a girl who can do the farm work, but still be very much a girl!!

I just found this old wooden clip board for a few bucks, thinking I might want to do something with it, but not sure what yet.

I found this little metal salvage piece, it was a window sash handle,
perfect for the tiny stuff that my daughter uses all the time.

I LOVE these little letters that are like little letter tiles in all different fonts and cases.
I have to watch it or I will be putting them on everything.

It's A White Christmas Day

YES, for Christmas Day my oldest daughter got her Christmas wish and we got a
White Christmas!!
My youngest daughter braved the very chilly air (single digit with the wind chill factor) to take some pictures around our property.

She is very artistic with her shots, and I love it.

All I have to say is I'm glad my husband didn't listen to some who said he was crazy for ordering an SUV with 4 wheel drive!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

It's a Cottage Christmas

I put up Christmas decorations in my little cottage today.  I was lots of fun.

Each year I put things in different places, but I really like my strange
little cotton Christmas Tree on this old magazine rack table with my little jars all lit up.

It is so cozy.  I just love to go out there and read through all of my decorating books.
Now that's a Holiday.

This year my little center piece on the trunk is different.  I used left over burlap and a white hanky in an old sewing drawer I had and filled it with a few sparkly things.

See my little birdie?  I thought she was so cute.
It has to be a girl birdie, because it's a girlie cottage.

Don't you just love my feather ornament clipped on the lantern?
I just thought it was so soft and pretty, I just had to find a place for it.

Now that I have the Cottage done, I hope to get the house decorated....
Especially BEFORE Christmas.
